JAMAICAN BLACK CASTOR OIL BENEFITS

By | Wednesday, December 11, 2013 Leave a Comment

Tropic Isle Living’s Jamaican Black Castor Oil is ancient healing oil that had been used for thousands of years as a remedy to grow and maintain the hair, for skin ailments, aches and pains, as a laxative and as a hair conditioner. It originated in Africa and made its way to Jamaica via African slaves. Information is from the website and also includes:

Traditional uses: As a hair and scalp conditioner; skin moisturizer and healer; massage oil for aches, pains, fibroids and lumps in the breasts; a powerful laxative and used as a first aid for cuts, wounds and burns.

-For Dry, Permed and Colored Hair: add 3 Tbsp to a deep conditioner to add and seal in moisture. It’s great for dry scalp, dandruff and head lice. It promotes hair growth and strengthens the roots. It has been known to thicken the hair (eyebrows and eyelashes as well).

-Hot Oil Treatment: Warm 3 Tbsp of the oil and massage into hair, put on heating cap and sit under dryer for 10 minutes.

-For the Skin: Massage into skin to moisturize and help to relieve common skin problems. The disinfectant properties are excellent for fungal infections, rashes and cracked skin on the feet and ankles. A little around the eyes can aid wrinkles around the eyes.

-For Aches and Pains: Warm and massage into areas of discomfort. It contains anti-inflammatory qualities to bring down inflammation in various parts of the body.

(TIP) Due to its thick consistency; you may add other oils to help thin it out for hair uses. I sometimes alternate adding Coconut Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Jojoba Oil or other oils to mine. Use a dime size or less to run through your hair; be sure not to over-do-it causing it to weigh down the hair. I mainly focus on my scalp and using an applicator bottle that I purchased at my local beauty supply store helps distribute it better on the scalp.
Also note: It has a bit of a nutty/oil smell which some are not fond of but it does work wonders. It’s a great all purpose healing oil as it states on the bottle.
