Hello 2016! Although we’re meeting for the first time, yet another year has returned for a visit. This is the time to really get things in gear with a new  start, new ideas, positive changes and whatnots. Having a resolution is fine but many people don’t complete their list by years end. Sad to say that I’m one of those people as well, so I’ve made it a point to not pressure myself.

Accomplishing several goals for yourself within a deadline which may help you stick to a better schedule. Instead of going on a quick diet for the New Year, only to quickly gain it back later, decide making healthier choices that may result in a better lifestyle. Before you know it you’ll look and feel so much better.

Be strong, find the courage to do things you’ve always wanted to try or do…no matter what others may think or say. Let 2016 be the year where FEAR is not invited and doesn’t fit in your lifestyle. Try as much as you can and if it doesn’t happen right at that moment, don’t quit! It might not be the right time or still more things to do. Things happen when they are meant to, make it happen by creating it into existence.

I love seeing a person’s success and try to motive those who could use it. You’ll be surprised how simple kind words, a smile or greeting someone changes not only someone's day, but could brighten your day in return. It’s a great feeling when I give compliments to others and being helpful, I’ve help brainstorm ideas with plenty of people, lol. The more good you give out the more good will return to you.  So by all means, rack up them Karma Points by putting good out in the world.

Take care of yourself and surround yourself with great people and support system. The truest ones will uplift, encourage and give good constructive criticism while others rather pull you down, chuckle at your ideas etc. If you have a side-line hater in your circle maybe 2016 is the year to cut some ties with certain people around you. But, on the flipside, if you’re the sideline hater, do yourself a favor, be kind to all. Everyone deserves love and respect (unless the situation is not fixable then you have to move on from that person) so treat everyone as such. Bully’s are not in style, lol, humble yourself watch more greatness come into your life.

Motivation: Self Care
Life’s good, everything’s good! By keeping that constant reminder in the forefront will prove that all things will turn out fine. Stop all negativity in its tracks! It’s a new day and a new week which, will you look at the time, another new year among us.

Oprah has mentioned many times before that she writes in her Gratitude journal daily, many people do and ever since I can remember, I’ve always had diaries, journals, you name it. It’s such a free therapeutic high of some sort to write out your thoughts and feelings. All of your emotions flow onto the pen and then the paper…I love writing. It’s refreshing when you can reflect more clearly and view things for what it’s worth by looking back on your past and your “now showing” present.

Take care of yourself
I thrive off great energy, positivity, much love and plenty laughter. Enter happiness. What I’ve learned…and it’s a must, to have more love for yourself so you’re able to give some to others. You can’t give something you don’t have when you’re totally empty inside. Life happens and everything in it can weigh you down so it’s crucial to make sure you take care of you as well.

 Benefits of Vitamin (pictured)
B12 (along with Folate) aid in cell development & maintenance, deficiency can lead to a form of anemia. Found in eggs, milk cheese, meat etc.
Vitamin A (Retinol) aids in healthy skin. Found in natural fats; whole milk, butter etc. Aid in vision (in dim light) and many more benefits.
Zinc Associated with protein, found in nuts, wholegrains, meat, dairy etc. Helps healing of wounds.
Vitamin D3 Supports teeth, bone and immune health. Sunlight on the skin gives Vitamin D but can be found in oily fish, egg yolks, milk etc.

At times we go so hard for others and forget about ourselves in the process.
Many may depend on you, especially if you’re the number one top person who sets the tone/pace for all things per your family. Plenty of prayer, meditation, music, healthy eating, daily nutrients and exercise is a great start. Oh and can’t forget the much needed laughter via great friends and family. Also, throw in a resort or a spa day to round things out.

It’s ok to take a step or two back, slow down and pause. View all aspects of your life and the people in it. You might realize certain things need to be rearranged or even cut out completely. In the end make sure you are truly honest with yourself because after all, it starts with you. Rome wasn’t built in a day so making baby steps in the right direction will get things going. Just a spark of motivation is needed to push forward and we all can benefit from that. Find your peace and inspiration then grow, believe me things will come into focus real quick, lol. Wishing you all a prosperous life. Until next time! –xoxo

I receive questions like this quite often, so I wanted to share a little background and thoughts about my experiences. Shout out to Vincent Johnson who is an amazing friend (a go-getter as well) who inspired this post.

I have always tried to be a giving person via time, energy, effort, a shoulder, conversation, suggestions, opinions, etc. I'm packed with a lot of laughs and so much love. I am not threatened by the next one’s success or their life, I compliment and congratulate people all the time. It’s great to hear successful stories and motivating people is right up my alley.

THE START OF IT ALL (how I began)
(MY EXPERIENCE) I envisioned my passions early on as a youth, so my path started long before social media existed. I laugh when I think back in high school- 800 psychic numbers were popular. I remember asking this “so-called psychic” about future career endeavors. How hurt I was when she said I will not be involved in music/entertainment, nor will I ever meet anyone famous, lol. Ouch! Just crush a young girls dreams- that hurt. Now calling the 800 New Edition message-of-the-day number was another story, lol. I still remember walking in from school with my mom holding that expensive phone bill in her hand. Yeah I was in trouble but I was a teenager- don’t judge me, ha ha.

Fast forward- moved many miles away after high school to further my education full-time in another state. I didn’t know anyone but I soaked in everything I learned in school like a sponge. So, between full-time school, part-time job and interning simultaneously I started meeting people. I asked genuine questions and always kept conversations interesting.

(THE TAKEAWAY) No matter the industry you pursue or where you reside, by attracting positive things into your life, all desires can be successfully obtained. Once you begin on your journey to your dreams- there may be a lot of stumbles, bumps and failures in the road- but have determination in the forefront to keep going. A great support system is key but many may not have that in place and that’s ok because you’re not alone. A total stranger can give all the boost you need to motivate you along. There are a wealth of books, positive online resources and forums to grow and learn from.

START LIVING YOUR PASSION
(MY EXPERIENCE) I have always kept my eye on the prize via jobs and experiences on the music/entertainment platform (music videos/movies, radio station, entertainment magazines, recording studio, co-manager of on-air talent of a television show, co-producer of comedy shows, interviewed interesting beautiful people, etc.).
It’s something about that ‘first time’ experience- seeing your dreams manifest- and rewarding to live what you love.

The term, ‘six degrees of separation’, holds true, we come across and connect with people in certain circles. It’s crucial to build relationships in any business because think about it, no one truly does it on their own. One time I was traveling back home to Atlanta, as the person sitting next to me struck up a pleasant conversation.  I found out she works at REVOLT TV, which is Diddy’s entertainment music network. She also explained her boyfriends’ involvement in helping ink the deal for the popular Netflix series, ‘Orange is the New Black’, when it first surfaced.  As our travel came to an end, she gave me her business card, and again this was all in passing. You never know who you come across and what being-in-the-right-place-at-the-right- time can bring.

(THE TAKEAWAY) Opportunities come and go so determine which opportunity is right for you. Many doors will slam and many no’s will echo but one opened door and one yes is all you need. Stay focused and keep going because you never know who is taking notice and someone somewhere will BELIEVE in your dreams. Surround yourself with like-minded people and those more successful in order to learn and grow. Everyone will not divulge their secret-to-success with you so don’t take it personally, although they should think back when someone gave ‘them’ their break.

There are those who allow ego to represent them or won’t ‘pay it forward’ to help the next one. Again, don’t give negative energy and people- not wishing you well to begin with- a platform. Focus on your goals, be genuinely helpful and very grateful to those around you. Hard work and determination is part of the process but without forming relationships or having a genuine supportive circle, the roads you travel… may be a long lonely one. The struggle is real but your destiny is going to happen- no matter when or where. If it’s meant for you it will be for you. There’s enough room for everyone to succeed, claim it, it’s yours. Get inspired and get connected. Figure out which next steps to take to accomplish your dream. Let’s go!

I hope this was helpful and gives someone the needed encouragement to start or continue their desires in life. Have any questions or comments? Leave them in the comment box below for ya girl, let’s connect.

HAPPY MONDAY! It's been rainy and/or dreary the last few days (in my part of the world) but yet another great day to make a difference in your life. I know many cringe when Mondays roll around, hitting the snooze button a couple times. Seriously rise and grind, let's start the day/week with some positive energy, shall we. Congrats to those of you who get in a good workout before work, you are one step ahead in your day. Better than me, although I do try to find the time throughout the day somewhere...gotta get it in.

Be as strong and beautiful as which you were created. There are many things we all can do in our lives to create more opportunities, if not for ourselves, for others. Do not worry if you feel as if your contributes go unnoticed....believe me, there are many watching from the sidelines noticing the hard work you put in and the good intentions behind it. You 'WILL' be rewarded and if not by man, by a higher power- all in due time.

I truly believe that what you put in, you will get in return. It helps having the same 'liked-minded' supportive people as you to help drive and motivate your actions. Have you been around people who either haven't accomplished as much as you or secretly 'hate' on your good fortune? What about people who feel "entitled to" whatever you have, via association. O_0 huh? Don't allow certain people to spill their lackluster desires or goals onto you; making you feel some type of way. There are actually people in the world who will blame others for "their" downfalls etc. Also some might be in a great position to help others along but have that crab-in-the-barrel syndrome; not wanting anyone achieving more or getting ahead of them.

Just know it's all about the positive change within "you" and not the negativity of others. Trust and believe all things are possible if you just put it out there. Don't be afraid, everyone has a beginning but you at least need to "start" toward your change. Failure is a teacher, it's powerful....it show us what it feels like, what can happen but most of all it teach us what "not" to do and how we can better improve for next time

Wishing you all a great productive Monday, part-take in something you truly love and remember CHANGE BEGINS WITH YOU. Be blessed!

Hi guys! Hope you all had a great Valentines Day! I truly missed you. Georgia was on a 'State of Emerency' lock down situation due to very bad weather and conditions. They say 'when it rains it pours' so during this time, my old trusty desktop computer was on it's last leg and crashed on me, errrr, EVERYTHING was on it! I loved it soooo much. To add insult to injury...the very next day, my tablet showed out, lol and will not go past the logo once turned on, smh, lol. So those are the issues I'm dealing with....'This too Shall Pass' (think positive thoughts).

I've been super busy working on things but promise to keep you in the loop. I hope you all are staying motivated, it's still early in the game (2014) so you have more than enough time to turn things around if needed.

It is great having a network of supportive family or friends for encouragement. Not everyone have that support system or people who truly want to see you succeed. Only surround yourself with positive energy but keep climbing that ladder. To grow is to venture out and test new waters. Learn from mistake, correct them and move on. There are numerous like-minded people sharing a common interests and networking is the key. I love meeting people and getting to know their stories. If you walk away with just a hint of inspiration and knowledge then it was worth it and you may gained a new friend.

So, once in a while I get the detour in life, throwing me off course; case in point my computer and tablet. I have to remind myself it's just a bump in the road...keep going! It's rewarding to do something you love....do you hear that? It's your passion knocking at the door. Will you open or ignore it? Be inspired!

The International Civil Rights Walk of Fame is sponsored by the Trumpet Awards Foundation, Inc. and created/designed by Ms. Xernona Clayton, who serves as founder and executive producer of the Trumpet Awards. It grows bigger each year, Ms. Clayton states, “This Walk of Fame tells a phenomenal story about the legacy of our nation. It is a permanent testimony to those who have dedicated themselves to progress of our people and to this nation.”

The International Civil Rights Walk of Fame held a special ceremony at the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Center as part of the Trumpet Awards weekend. This ceremony was created in 2004 to give recognition to the foot soldiers of justice who sacrificed and struggled to make equality a reality for all. Now in its tenth year, ten inductees were honored Footprints to be displayed at the King Center.
Congratulation to Bishop John Hurst Adams, The Honorable Roy Barnes, Dr. John Carlos, Dr. Tommie Smith, The Honorable Perry Gladstone Christie (Prime Minister of the Bahamas), Dr. Norman C. Frances, Harry E. Johnson, Sr. Representative Calvin Smyre, Thomas N. Todd and Rev. Jasper W. Williams, Jr.

The Walk of Fame Footprints display has become one of the most visited tourist attraction in Atlanta and has enriched the heritage of the civil rights movement.

We ‘salute’ all inductees on their ongoing tireless efforts making a difference through their work, a shining example. Congratulations to you all…well deserved!

I recently ran across one of Tyler Perry’s post entitled ‘DON’T STAY TOO LONG’, and it was quite lengthy but the message was loud and clear. I only highlighted the message but it does pertain to all of us.

I’ve had conversations about this same thing with one of my closest friends, who feel I need to work on “forgiveness”. I disagree, my forgiveness is fine, like many, I’ve been wronged in situations where I did nothing wrong and I put it behind me and moved forward. It’s a difference between ‘not forgiving’ verses knowing when to move on from situations or people. I don’t have any ill will towards any parties or situations, I simply ‘move on’ and as Tyler put it… I took flight. Stress or hate is not good for anyone’s health (heart, mind, spirit etc.) so don’t stress over things you can’t change within others or certain circumstances.

Not all situations stay the same and many of us are in Seasonal situations which will forever happen, it’s life. God put people/situations in the paths of others and we may not always know why; maybe they suppose to teach us or we help them etc. Either way change can be scary or unpredictable but you need to know when it’s time to move and fly as high as you can. Turn the page to your next chapter because we all have more to learn and grow on. Remember to be kind, respectful and helpful to others and be the best “you” you can be. Get ready…it may just be time for CHANGE!

Be blessed~ xoxo

HAPPY 2014 EVERYONE!!

So now that 2013 is behind us, well some of you may still feel the 2013 festivities effects, lol, have you thought about a New Year’s Resolution? Did you hang on to the one last year? Either way, resolutions tend to roll over each year…do we even need them?

So much took place via celebrity gossip, ratched television and not to leave out things happening in our own back yards. Hopefully we all can walk away with an anew ‘self’ as we hit the evaluation button of our lives.

Once again, we have a new year, a clean slate to get things rolling in the right direction. Let’s challenge ourselves to see how much stronger and wiser we really can be, no more excuses. What will you do to accomplish your goals? 2014 was waiting on you…and now that it’s here, what are you going to do while living in it?

Wishing all of you a very Happy & Prosperous New Year ~Sonya (Urban Crush)

Do you really need to make a new change or a fresh start on New Year’s Day? Find yourself saying ‘another day, another dollar?’ If you dread your job, but want to be happy with a comfortable lifestyle…then make a change. Great things can happen if you just keep going. Never give up, get creative and get motivated. The massively successful people, at the top of their game, put in mounds of hard dedicated work, day in and day out.  If you put in the effort…the accomplishments will come. It’s not a set length of time when someone achieves success. You can’t force opportunity, but if you involve passion, persistence and patience everything will flow as needed.

Overcome fear. Don’t be afraid to reach out and connect to people who can help and steer you in the right direction. I know many people you stumble upon are just for self. They may have answers or knowledge to help but they’re not forthcoming with sharing or assisting you. Life goes on and you can’t let those types of people stop you. There are plenty others along your journey with open arms to welcome or assist in any way possible. You are as valuable as anyone else, so don’t get discourage of someone, company or groups success. They might be further along on their path but view it as if you’re their peer.

The days of ‘going postal’ on the job are over, as well as being unhappy in life. Just remember, you may have to sacrifice certain things but it should be part of your plan of what to expect when focusing on the big picture. For example, if an opportunity presented itself to work for the OWN Network (Oprah Winfrey) cleaning bathrooms, I would proudly carry my spray bottles/mops etc. cleaning the bathrooms while whistling, lol. It’s not a game people! I know Oprah runs a tight ship but she does great by her employees’- so I’ve heard with all the benefits, perks etc., well maybe you’re not sacrificing much, more like an even trade. Either way it goes the sooner you start the sooner you’ll see results; even a little progress is still ‘progress’ moving forward.
Have a great and blessed day. ~xoxo

PUT ON A HAPPY FACE!!!!!!!

Hi guys! I’ve been really missing on the blogging scene in recent months. I did a post before this one and felt it was only right to let my readers know of my ordeal instead of writing posts without a word otherwise. I’ve been dealing with death and family issues among other things. Sometimes we all go through challenging moments in our life, no matter what it is. The main thing is you must “keep going”.  So now I’m here to play catch up and hope that you understand of my absence. [It wasn’t that I was lazy or uninterested, trust me].

Now with that being said, lately I’ve had several conversations with family and friends wanting my opinion about their job interview dilemma (yes several came to me with this). They expressed how unhappy they are due to the many interview “steps” they are put through. We’re aware of how the job market is currently and although many may have an interview but with no such luck in the end. For those unemployed, it’s a job just to find/get a job. If you’re one of the lucky ones to even get an interview- congrats! That’s like getting nominated for an award. At least your resume stood out and was recognized. The competition is so fierce and companies slash their budgets etc. You may have a degree and the whole nine but may be considered over-qualified. This is where ‘who you know’ may be helpful of getting in the door. Many companies are going through staffing companies to hire, which is less expensive to their bottom line.

My advice is to know your worth, depending on the situation you may need to get a paycheck due to bills piling up, just until something else comes along. Very understandable, but if you are in a cross between 1) getting an offer from a low paying job [the lowest you’ve seen in awhile] but 2) trying to wait until that other job [you recently interview for] will call you. This can be tricky, companies may give you a small window to consider but if you wait too long, you may have just handed over that job to someone else. If a company is interested they will contact you. If you expose that the other company is interested in hiring you, as well, you may just get a pay increase, which is even better. A couple days ago I was on the phone helping a friend with an email to a potential employer. It took only one day to get a response, then an interview. It look very promising and we wish her all the best of luck.

In this day and age, having your own company/business is the new “Backup Plan”. I’ve said it before, “Destiny is in your hands, find your passion and build your dreams.” If you have enough money stored away for a rainy day then maybe you can hold out on any fly-by-night-job and concentrate on that dream job or business that you’ve always wanted. The road to success may be a long one, but with hard work and dedication you will reap the rewards. So, when life throw you lemons, make the best lemonade ever…remember with ‘Prayer’ and the ‘Laws of Attraction’ anything is possible.

(Tell us how you handled or got over an ordeal in life?

Another year to a newer you, 2013 got off to a great start and hopefully many of you set aside a very promising New Year’s Resolution that you can stick to. As we know, starting a new routine for the first time or yet “again” is always the hardest. Like many, getting more exercise and eating healthier are penned on my list. Luckily for me a new LA Fitness in my neighborhood (currently in construction) will be ready to use in no time.

Others resolutions may include quitting or switching jobs/careers, getting rid of toxic friends, furthering education, quit smoking etc.

TYLER PERRY SPEAKS SUCCESS__________________

N
o matter what direction you go in life you must always remember to just “keep going!” The road may not be an easy one and you will face turbulence and failures, but they are lessons to make you stronger. View them as ‘what-not-to-do-next-time’ guides. We often times want the instant gratification- instant success but with hard work and dedication, success will become that much sweeter.

Never give up and even when you feel as though you want to throw in the towel, remember the hard work you invested. Remind yourself “It will come, don’t stop…keep going.” It may not come when we would like, but it’s on the way. If you find yourself overwhelmed or burned out, by all means, take time to regroup a bit, find balance, peace and pace yourself.

I'm one for a good ‘rags-to-riches’ story. To read the timeline of accomplishments through a person’s journey. What they faced, what they learned and what they can pass along to the next…speaking from their experience. I know some say “What’s the secret to their success?” and the secret is….wait for it….”Passion, Motivation, Determination…YOU!”

YOU are the key to your own destiny.

The beauty lies within the people you surround yourself with, as well as hard work. Every successful person or multi-million dollar business may been the brains behind the operation and even hands-on but they always and I do mean always have a great team behind them. No one does it all alone, on their own, but when you can give back- do so. Whether via a self help book, an organization or simply five minutes of your time, it’s all positive motivation so make it count.

Nothing is worse than someone who gets a hint of success but start to morph into this egotistic, spiteful person who forgot to pass the baton. Karma is in your hands and you wouldn’t want to see the same people you’ve passed going up now you see going down. Humility, gratitude and staying true can lead you on a successful path.

This world is full of opportunity for the taking. I’ve heard quotes, “Strivers achieve what dreamers believe” and “A dream is only a dream if you don’t wake up and make it a reality.” The 3 C’s of Life: You must make a Choice to take a Chance or your life will never Change. So stay focus and keep going…you can do it!!

Hopefully you have a sparked of inspiration in your life which can in return help someone else in their journey through life. Stay motivated.
If you have a motivation story, please share it, maybe you just might inspire someone today.
