A TLC BIOPIC MOVIE AND TLC20 ALBUM: They're Baaaaaack!

The anticipation of Crazy Sexy Cool: The TLC Story was worth the wait. Drew Sidora, Lil Mama and KeKe Palmer were fantastic in their TLC portrayal. The movie is from the groups experience through the eyes of T-boz and Chilli. The movie was laced with real media footage as it took viewers on a journey. Their new single “Meant to Be” at the movies end was touching as it showed studio footage of T-boz and Chilli working with singer/songwriter Ne-Yo. TLC recently appeared on Wendy Williams as they discussed the movie. They said how certain parts of the movie were toned-down. The girls were also on a radio show, which T-boz spoke about the hospital scene where she recalled at an award show, Pebbles saying “Well I don’t care if we have to roll her out in a wheelchair; she’s going to do this performance tomorrow.”

The movie did great with Left Eyes’ storyline and hope The Lopez family were pleased with the movie as well. I recently interviewed Left Eye’s sister, Reigndrop, backstage in her dressing room. At the time she had not seen the full movie. She mentioned how the family had no involvement with the film but she anticipated seeing it. Read my brief interview with Reigndrop Lopez.

UC: I’m with the talented and beautiful…
RL: Reigndrop Lopez the first lady of Hip Rock.

UC: This is the second annual LeftEye Music Festival, so for those who missed it last year tell them what to expect with performances etc.
RL: Well the performances were amazing last year and even more amazing this year. There were a lot of artists that came. We had Que from Day 26, we had Dondria. We had just some amazing acts and I did my tribute to Lisa. It was great.

UC: I know Lisa is looking down and so proud that you all are carrying on her legacy. Have you seen a preview of the TLC movie and if so what did you think about it?
RL: I only seen a 20-30 minute clip of the trailer. It looked interesting and I’m just interest in seeing it and what’s going to be in there. The trailer was quick and it didn’t show much so I really don’t know what to think…I’m just anticipating on seeing it.

UC: Did you or the Lopez family have any involvement with it?
RL: No we didn’t have any involvement in it that’s why I’m anticipating on seeing it. I really don’t have an opinion about it until I see it.

UC: I never seen you perform and your performance was interesting, describe your style?
RL:  My Style is Hip Rock but you will still never understand it until you see me perform live. It’s funny because I was at a radio station the other day and they played my song and they asked me to freestyle but I said “ I don’t freestyle but I’ll spit a verse, so when I spit the verse they were like shocked, they said ‘oh you sound better live.’

UC: Really?
RL: Yeah and I was like “oh well when I record they have to add stuff to make it sound pretty but I like my stuff raw anyway and I think I sound the best live.

UC: What’s your favorite song that you’ve been performing so far?
RL: Explored is my favorite performance song.

UC: How is the album doing oversees, in Japan, verses here in the states?
RL: Well I released a single called “Looking Out My Left Eye”, which is a tribute to my sister Left Eye. I released it in Japan in June and it’s not released here in the states yet.

UC: Are you interested in acting or considering any acting projects?
RL:  I’ve worked on some stuff that has not come out. I’ve done trailers for some movies which hopefully will come out (laughter).

UC: Other than the album, what are some things that you want to get into that you haven’t yet.
RL:  There are a lot of things that I want to do like direct, be behind the scenes.

UC: Write books, etc?
RL: Yeah I might write but I rather tell someone else and let them write it.

UC: Any advice for anyone who want to get in the business?
RL: Don’t! I don’t advise anyone to get into this business. It’s cutthroat, it’s nasty, it’s nothing pretty about it. The only thing pretty is what you see on TV. If you're not in it to make a change or if you’re not going to put your whole world in it…I wouldn’t suggest getting in it.

Reigndrop’s tribute performance to sister, Lisa was entertaining. She stepped on the stage wearing different outfits as she rapped Left Eye verses. Reigna performed two of her songs entitled “Lookin’ Out My Left Eye” and ‘Explode’. The show ended with Que (formerly of Day26) joining her to perform Donell Jones (feat. Left Eye) song “You Know What’s Up”. Check out some footage and pics.
